How much Marble Coat do I need?
To calculate the area, multiply Length x Width x Depth to determine the volume needed
1 square meter area with 5mm coat: It requires 5 litre of Marble Coat
Instruction (white marble with black vein):
- Level your countertop surface
- Determine how much marble coat you would need
- Shake well Marble Coat container
- Pour a thin seal coat of white Marble Coat onto the surface at a depth of 1mm. Use a plastic epoxy spreader to distribute the epoxy until the entire surface is covered.
- Apply a flood coat of the rest of white Marble Coat over the seal coat
- After spreading and leveling the white marble coat, use your small bottle of black vein solution to start the marbling effect.
- Drizzle lines of the black vein solution in random locations on the top and down the sides of the white coat surface. It's best to keep the lines going in a similar direction to mimic marble's natural lines.
- Use a small, clean wooden stir stick to help you control the black vein as you apply it.
- Using your gloved fingertips or a dry chip brush, tap gently on the black vein streaks to create a feathering effect
Its sad Australian has to buy American Water Based Stone Coat resin, which we Australian are capable of making better product. Stone Coat is priced unbelievably high. Australian has to pay twice as much as American pay. And its seriously not that much unique. The resin doesnot perform that much different from the average resin in the market, while their marketing is amazing.
This Eparency Water Based Marble Coat reaches shore D 90. Finally a resin matches the hardness of the stone benchtop. No other resin in the world ever reaches the hardness of Shore D 90. This is the world record.
Its different from regular epoxy resin. First, its water based and will dry much slower than regular epoxy resin. It will take over 5 days to dry. It has matte finish while non-water-based epoxy resin has gloss finish. Second, its one part instead of two part mixing of regular epoxy resin. Finally but not the least, the coat must be over 5mm thick to be able to spread out.
